Arun Shourie is an Indian economist, journalist, author, and politician. He was born on November 2, 1941, in Jalandhar, Punjab, India. He studied at St. Stephen's College, Delhi, as well as at Syracuse University and Harvard University in the United States.
Shourie has worked as an economist with the World Bank, a consultant with the Planning Commission of India, and as an editor with leading Indian newspapers and magazines. He has written several books on a wide range of topics including economics, politics, religion, and society.
Shourie has been a Member of Parliament in India and has held various positions in the government, including Minister of Communications, Minister of Urban Development, and Minister of Disinvestment. He is known for his outspoken views on various issues and is considered a prominent intellectual in India.
